[Fix] “Something Happened” Error Message in Windows 10 Upgrade

After Windows 10 operating system released to public for free upgrade Windows 7 and 8.1 users have faced an annoying issue while upgrading it to Windows 10.

This error message is very annoying and very important to fix it. If you are facing this issue while upgrading your Windows 10 then the following methods will surely help you:

METHOD 1: Run your Windows Media Creation Tool as Administrator

First run the tool as Administrator:

Simply right-click on Media Creation Tool's EXE file and choose "Run as Administrator" option.



The "Something happened" error message won’t be there.

METHOD 2: Change the Locale and Language Settings to English (United States)

If the issue, persist then it might be that the locale and language settings are different in your computer, from the downloaded Windows 10 setup files.

Follow these steps to change the locale and language settings to fix the issue:

1. Open the Control Panel and hit on Region icon. Alternatively, you can open it using intl.cpl command from RUN or Start Search box.

A new window will be open containing the details of system locale, language, etc.

2. Move to "Administrative" tab and hit on "Change system locale" button.

3. Choose English (United States) option from drop-down box, hit on OK button.



4. Hit on "Copy Settings" button and check the both checkboxes in next window "Welcome screen and system accounts" and "New user accounts" and hit OK button.

Reboot your system and try to run the tool again. Hope the issue is solved.
